Thirty-eight current NJHS members tapped 82 new members at the October 6 ceremony held in the SMS gym. All 7th & 8th grade students, faculty, and many parents attended. The criteria for induction is that a student maintains an average of 85 in the core subjects and met character, leadership, scholarship, and discipline guidelines.

The new inductees will be given a letter to take to their parents to sign and returned by the due date in November.  The letter should accompany their honor society dues.  This will qualify them for membership into the SMS National Junior Honor Society.  As long as they maintain an 85 average they will remain a member throughout this school year.
