Library

Effective April 24, 2009, our library card catalog is available online at http://destiny.lee.k12.al.us/

Simply click on the link and choose Sanford as your school.  All of our students are trained during the school year to use Destiny to search for books by title, author, and subject/keyword. By entering their username/password after clicking the login button at the top right of the screen, they are also able to:
  • search for books in a specific AR reading range and point value.
  • create a list of books to pull up and print out so they already know which  books they want to find in the library. This list will remain in their name until they empty the list.
  • check the status of their current checkouts
  • place books on hold

AND do it all from anywhere in the world as long as they have Internet access!

Parents are now also able to check Accelerated Reader progress for their children and sign up to receive emails each time an Accelerated Reader test is taken.  Just add this address as a favorite and login in with your child's school assigned username and password!   http://ar.lee.k12.al.us/renaissanceserver/HomeConnect/Login.aspx

In our Media Center at Sanford Middle School, you will find thousands of books from which to choose.  There are five student computers with internet access for research.  These computers also allow students to search for books on our card catalog as well as access to Accelerated Reader assessments.

Students visit the Media Center each week with their language arts class and may visit at other times during the week with teacher permission.  The Media Center is open daily from 7:15 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.  Students are allowed to check out two books and keep them for two weeks.  At the end of the two week period, they may recheck or return the books.  If an item is not returned on time, an overdue fine of .05 cents per day is charged.

Students interested in completing internet research must have written permission from their teacher to include the subject/topic to be researched.  Our Media Center includes a Research Lab with 14 computers which is often reserved by teachers so that all of their students may complete research with their teacher's supervision.
